Picking up where the cup-throwing left off — here's the rest of that mini golf day, because the golf ball didn't just disappear into the water and stay forgotten.
Your brother did not react well, as you'd expect. Full meltdown, like he'd lost his dog in the worst possible way. But then he got to use this extendable net to fish the ball back out — and honestly, I think he had more fun in that one rescue mission than in the entire round of mini golf before it.
So here's the second lesson of the day: even when it feels like you just lost your dog in a terrible way, there can be joy waiting right around the corner — joy that wouldn't have existed without a little distress first. Look for the rainbow after the storm.
And also — don't go throwing your brother's golf balls into ponds. The kid just wanted to finish his round. The burger and fries were always going to still be there, I promise.
